Sirovasthi Treatment center in Trivandrum

What is Sirovasthi?

Sirovasthi is a specialized Ayurvedic therapy where warm medicated oil is retained on the head inside a leather or cylindrical cap fitted around the scalp. The name comes from “Sira” (head) and “Vasthi” (retention). Unlike Shirodhara, where oil flows continuously, Sirovasthi allows the medicated oil to remain in place, directly nourishing the scalp, calming the nervous system, and addressing deep-rooted conditions affecting the head, brain, and sensory organs.

What are the indications?

Sirovasthi is recommended for:

  • Chronic headache and migraine
  • Facial paralysis (Bell’s palsy)
  • Dryness of the scalp and hair fall
  • Neurological disorders affecting the head and neck
  • Insomnia and mental stress
  • Cervical spondylosis with head-related symptoms
  • Diseases of the eyes, ears, and nose (as supportive therapy)
  • Dandruff and premature greying
  • Memory issues and lack of concentration

What is the Treatment Procedure?

  • A leather cap or specially designed container is secured around the patient’s head to create a leak-proof chamber.
  • Warm, medicated herbal oil is slowly poured into the cap and retained on the head for 30–45 minutes.
  • The oil temperature is maintained throughout the session for optimal therapeutic effect.
  • After the therapy, the oil is drained, and the head is gently cleaned and massaged.
  • The patient is advised to rest quietly after the procedure.
  • The treatment is typically done for 7–14 days based on the health condition.

What are the Benefits of the Treatment?
