Ayurveda is involved with the protection of life, and its basic principles deal with the natural way of living a healthy life along with therapeutic methods that bring about physical, mental, social and spiritual harmony.
Apart from providing relief from illness, Ayurveda aims to prevent disease, maintain good health and slow down the ageing process.
This ancient system of medicine is based on principles that group the human physical and mental characteristics into three elements called doshas. |
These doshas are:
Vata (Air)
Pitta (Fire)
Kapha (Water)
A person is said to exhibit these three doshas in varying proportions, and although a certain dosha is usually dominant, the other two dosha’s will also have some influence in distinguishing a person according to Ayurveda. |
